A loan helped to expand her business and increase the size and range of her stock.

Mulima's story

Mulima is a 32-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and two children in Sesheke district in Zambia.

Mulima runs her own poultry business. She previously received a Kiva loan and repaid it. With her first Kiva loan, Mulima purchased more stock to increase her sales and used the profit to expand her business capital. Now, Mulima is requesting a loan to purchase more stock. She plans to use the profit she earns to expand her business, support her family, and pay school fees for her children and two vulnerable children in her community.

Mulima will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as a CAMFED Learner Guide, facilitating classes from CAMFED’s ‘My Better World’ program with students at her local secondary school, helping to build children’s self-esteem and motivating them to remain in school.

This loan is special because:

It is a 0% interest loan for young women with new businesses.
