A loan helped a member to purchase an ACE 1 hybrid energy system for cooking, lighting and charging in a way that is safer, cleaner and saves money.

Maeba Group's story

Machaka is a 62-year-old woman who lives in a 2 bedroom house without access to electricity and with 5 other family members including 3 children. Machaka relies on a pension fund and struggles to buy fuel. She spends most of her energy expenses on gas which costs up to LSL 180 per month. She also spends up to 3 hours per day gathering fuel and fulfilling other energy needs like phone charging. Machaka and the other member of the group in this village each bought the ACE 1 cookstove to help them save the money they spend every month on fuel and also help them access solar electricity for to charge their mobile devices any time for free. The ACE 1 clean cookstove is biomass and solar powered. For more information on the ACE 1 cook stove please visit www.africancleanenergy.com and Facebook @African Clean Energy.
