A loan helped a member to purchase an ACE 1 hybrid energy system for safer and cleaner cooking, lighting and charging.

Dandelion Group's story

Makhotso is a 49-year-old woman who lives in a multi-bedroom house with five other family members, including three children. She works as a civil servant, but struggles with buying multiple fuels. She spends most of her energy expenses on electricity, paraffin and gas, which costs up to LSL 593 per month. She also spends as much as one hour per day gathering fuel and fulfilling other energy needs like phone charging.

Makhotso and the other members of the group in this village each bought an ACE 1 cookstove to help them save the money they spend every month on fuel, and help them access solar electricity for charging their mobile devices any time for free. The ACE 1 clean cook-stove is biomass and solar-powered. For more information on the ACE1 cook stove, please visit www.africancleanenergy.com and Facebook @African Clean Energy
