Here are small-scale entrepreneurs from Makeni City, in northern Sierra Leone. They are seeking a loan of SLL 500,000 for each person in the group to further strengthen their businesses. With the help of the loan, they will be able to buy more goods, attract more customers, make more sales and profit, and consequently improve their living conditions.
Isatu K., who is pictured second from left, is the leader of this group of entrepreneurs. The forty-two-year-old is married to a driver and they have two children who attend primary schools. Isatu has been a businesswoman for two years. Isatu sells bowls, dishes, spoons, knives, palm-oil (the most popular cooking oil) and sugar. With her share of the loan, she will buy the above mentioned items in wholesale to add to her current ones.
