A loan helped to pay for farm inputs and hired labor in order to grow more crops on her horticultural farm, make profits, and support her five children.

Veronicah's story

Hello lenders! Meet Veronicah, pictured above in her house, a 33-year-old mother of five children living in Kitale, a town that was significantly struck by the 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. Veronicah started farming a few years ago on a small plot of land. She is a repeat Kiva borrower who has dairy cows and a small garden on her farm.

Veronicah is seeking a loan of 60,000 Kenyan shillings (KES), which she will use to pay for farm inputs and hired labor in order to grow more crops. It takes a lot for a smallholder farmer to risk limited resources to expand a farm business. With your help, Veronicah will be able to cover the high cost of farm inputs necessary for expansion.

Veronicah will reinvest a significant portion of the profits in her business to fuel growth, as she wants to establish a good foundation for her family. She hopes to be able to progress as a female smallholder farmer and have a more stable income. Join Juhudi in celebrating Kenyan women by lending to Veronicah.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
