Born and raised in Baltimore City, I learned what it was like to not have access to opportunities. Always an avid gamer, I always wanted a place to go where my friends and I could come together and enjoying our passion for gaming together despite not always having the funds or means to buy the latest and greatest video games. Following a chance meeting with Devante in my first year of college at Penn State, we endeavored to create a place where gamers like us could form friendships and game in the flesh. While putting myself through college I worked at various restaurants and retail positions where I earned restaurant management certifications.
One summer a few years ago, Devante and I were anxious about going out for the weekend. He wanted to go the bars in state college while I was content on staying home and playing an RPG in peace. In his disappointment at my reticence an idea was born: Why not bring the bar to people like me who don't enjoy traditional bar scenes? That is when G-Haven was created. G-Haven allows for in person interaction at an establishment built by gamers for gamers that has two primary missions: to build Camaraderie through competition and Dominate the Digital divide. G-Haven hosts events where gamers come together from all walks of life, eat food, play games, and socialize in any setting. We hope to build a restaurant concept that competes with traditional sports bars as the first true Esports Bar and that can expand globally as entities like this exist around the world but seldom are they found in America.
We want to utilize our idea of bringing gamers together to help provide initiatives and programming for people who live in places of low technological and economic opportunity, like Baltimore. These programs will teach young people how to code, what professional opportunities they can get in STEM and STEAM fields, and allow them to interact with technology that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to use, like 3D printing, Gaming PCs, and Streaming technologies.

Business Description
G-Haven is a two pronged gaming platform designed to bring gamers together in an effort to curb loneliness and isolation and dominate the digital divide in areas with poor economic opportunity. We officially started the business in September of 2019 and we started it because we were spurred the lack of interaction and opportunity we saw in our local community. Our business currently functions as a mobile interface where we make custom made gaming events for schools, companies, clubs, and other social spaces.
The biggest challenge we have is the initial lack of all the equipment we need to host bigger and better events. We have put considerable effort into securing the equipment we do have and have been able to perform our service, but more equipment would make for a smoother, easier experience for our customers.
Our future goals are to transition from using the mobile tour as our primary source of revenue and build physical locations that can eventually be scaled and franchised or owned corporately like other food service ventures. With our programming, we hope to expand from Baltimore to other areas where our services can be helpful, such as rural communities and other cities like Philadelphia and New York.
I am most proud of the tremedous traction we have made in a relatively short time and with our initial personal investment of $8000 dollars. We have hosted events, won or placed in pitch competitions, hired people, made the local news and have beginning creating a local community, which is pivotal for our endeavor.
G-Haven is an LLC jointly run by Devante R.R. Jones and Dexter Carr, Jr. We currently have two intern in our company internship program, one focusing on creating and expanding our brand influence and the other focused on operational excellence and increasing the quality of events.
Our social impact is our community programming designed as an outreach to local youth in Baltimore, teaching them about STEM and STEAM fields and networking them with various people in the industry that they have an interest in studying while also teaching skills and providing scholarship and apprenticeship opportunities in IT and Cyber security sectors.
What is the purpose of this loan?
G-Haven is applying for this loan so that we can expand our equipment inventory, so we can finish creating our tournament tour, and so we can adequately develop our social programming.
If we are granted this loan, G-Haven will be invigorated with much needed capital, expanding our capabilities and allowing us to hire more, plan more events, advertise in more places, and impact more people.
We expect the purchases to increase revenue and profit by at least a factor of two because it will allow us to present more events and more possible combinations of programming for the future of our company, If we can at least double our revenue and profit margins we can expand and grow even more rapidly than our projections thought possible.

Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
"No" means that the Lending Partner is not covering any currency losses and all losses will be passed onto lenders.
"N/A" means the Lending Partner disburses loans to borrowers in USD so their loans are not subject to any currency fluctuation.
Do Kiva borrowers pay any interest on their loans?
Our partners collect interest from borrowers because there are many operational expenses associated with microfinance in developing markets, especially in rural areas. Many of Kiva's Lending Partners also provide additional services alongside their loan products such as business training, financial literacy lessons, or health services.
Kiva will not partner with an organization that charges unreasonable interest rates, and we require Lending Partners to fully disclose their rates. In addition, we only partner with microfinance institutions and organizations that have a social mission to serve the poor, unbanked, and underserved.
