Amani M. is the president of the Alleluya borrowing group, and it is her raising her right hand on the photo. She is a customer of IMF Hekima (4th cycle), 41 years old and mother to eight children, six of whom go to school, the other two being small children still. Her husband is a student at the university in Goma.
She began her small diverse business with her own funds. Her initial capital was $80, backed up by a loan from IMF Hekima. She sets herself up in the small market in her neighborhood with the local nickname of "Trois Paillottes - Axe Katindo", where she sells her various products: Fanta, flour, Omo washing powder, oil etc.. She also sells kerosene at home in order to boost her income.
Amani M. would like to obtain more loans in order to increase her turnover and build a house for her family. She is grateful to IMF Hekima for the loans she is granted without any material guarantee, since thanks to these loans she is able to pay for kitchen utensils and provide for the needs of her family; her children are able to study comfortably.
The Alleluya group is made up of 15 members, all women.
