A loan helped a member to buy wholesale rice, noodles, and oil.

Gladiolos Group's story

The communal bank “Gladiolos,” part of the Santiago II Agency, is composed of eight members. They are friends and neighbors from their area, led by a board of directors of which Feliza is president.

Feliza, age 40, is in a common law marriage and has four daughters. Currently, she has a business selling food, a trade that she learned many years ago.

The loan she will now take out will be used to increase her buying capital for rice, noodles, and oil wholesale. She will acquire it from the wholesale vendors in the city of La Paz, prior to preparing and selling it in her sales location. This form of work allows her to generate income to support her family economically. Her aspiration is to enlarge her business. Feliza asks that [Kiva lenders] continue trusting in their communal bank.
