A loan helped to buy beauty salon supplies and tools.

Rosiris Del Socorro's story

Rosiris T. M., 37, lives in San Juan de Nepomuceno, Bolívar department. She has two children who are 13 and 17 years old. The idea for her business came when she was having a hard time finding employment. She took a course on disinfectant making at SENA (National Employment Service) but she didn’t do too well. She then started a beautician course and since then has done quite well providing in home manicures and hair dying services; she has a lot of regular customers thanks to the convenience of going to their homes to provide the service.

This is her second loan with Fundación Santo Domingo; she’s asking for $2.000.000 to buy work tools, like a hair straightening iron, a hair dryer, nail polish for manicures and to sell to her customers. She will also buy clothing for women and children, bedspreads and towels because she also sells assorted merchandise.

She used her first loan to buy nail polish and hair cutting tools because she didn’t have any. She also invested in a women’s clothing line and this is how her business has been expanding.

Her family supports itself with profits from her business and with her husband’s earnings as a construction worker.

Her children are in school because it is precisely one of her goals to help them finish school. Another of her dreams is to own her own home because they are sharing with their in-laws; she would also like to take a professional beautician course in the future.

Her business is located on San Juan Nepomuceno’s main street in a neighborhood where she is well known and where her neighbors are known teachers and public sector employees.
