A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize, as well as a solar light.

Judith's Group's story

Judith's Group is formed by 7 farmers in Teso District and is being represented by Judith, who is the group leader pictured above. She is 53 years old and has 7 children. Judith has been a farmer for 16 years and is often referred to as a very resourceful person.

Judith isn’t new to One Acre Fund, she actually joined the program in 2018 and has since noticed her life has changed; especially in the sense that she has been able to consistently feed her family ever since. This year, Judith will not only get fertilizer and maize seeds as part of her loan, but will also purchase a solar light. She is very excited about this addition since now she will be able to have light during dark hours for her children to be able to study.

Using this loan, Judith's Group will purchase a total of 2 solar lights and use the farming inputs received to plant a total of 2.5 acres.

In this group: Judith, Janet, Edward, Okware, Florence, Mary, Stephen

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
