A loan helped to buy fertilizer and mulch for her coffee plantation to boost crop production.

Velonic's story

Velonic is a married woman with four children, three of whom attend school. She is a farmer from Sembabule who primarily grows coffee. After the harvest, she supplies the coffee to processing factories and bulk buyers to earn a living.

In a bid to ensure good yields, she has applied for a loan of 3,000,000 UGX to buy fertilizer for the coffee plantation. She also intends to use part of the loan to buy mulch materials for her banana plantation to avoid soil erosion during the rainy season. She is confident that her income will increase because good quality yields attract competitive prices.

Velonic is grateful for the financial support that is expected to improve her farming. However, the price fluctuations and the unpredictable weather conditions are still a challenge for her.
