A loan helped to purchase a biodigester and use biogas, a renewable energy, for milk pasteurization.

Maina's story

Maina's parents bought the farm she is working on a long time ago. They were farmers all their life and planned for Maina and her brothers to look after and improve the field crop because agriculture is what makes the world alive.

Maina knows manure is polluting the planet because of inadequate waste management which is why she wants to invest in a Sistema.bio biodigester that will allow her transform the manure from 12 cows into renewable clean energy (biogas) and an organic fertilizer called "biol."

Maina will use biogas for corn production and during the pasteurization process. They also will apply the organic fertilizer in the forage for animals instead of chemical fertilizers to take care of the soil, the animals, and the production.

This loan represents 65% of the price of the biodigester; the remaining part is paid directly by Maina.

This loan is special because:

It saves farmers money by transforming waste into biogas and organic fertilizer.
