A loan helped to purchase fabric and colored thread to develop her business and increase her income.

Shohista's story

Shohista is a kind and polite 28-year-old married mother of three children. For the past 10 years, she has been embroidering traditional dresses for women. She is grateful to her mother, who taught her this skill.

Her husband's income is small, as he engages in repairing houses, so Shohista is the main breadwinner in her family. Besides embroidering, she engages in animal husbandry.

Shohista has requested a loan from Kiva field partner, IMON, to purchase more fabric and colored thread to further develop her business and increase her income.

She is a returning borrower and has a positive credit history. She is asking for a loan for the tenth time through Kiva’s partner, IMON. She hopes to have your support.

This loan is special because:

It allows Tajik artisans to support their families and carry on important handicraft traditions.
