A loan helped to invest in a bulk purchase of wool, thread, and dyes.

Cerapio's story

Cerapio is a weaver from Peru who specializes in handwoven wool rugs and tapestries. He would like to invest in a bulk purchase of wool, thread, and dyes. Cerapio has been selling through NOVICA since 2000. This is his story:

Peruvian artisan Cerapio was forced to leave his home in Ayacucho during the 1980s. "Terrorists were bleeding my people to death, and there seemed little hope. I inherited my passion for weaving from my parents and grandparents. But the quality of my work is the result of my long experience, and the product of my careful observation over the years. I draw inspiration from our ancient Peruvian cultures, Andean village life, and from our snow-capped mountains."

"I'd like to express my gratitude to each of you ... thanks to your support I have grown as an artist and I have even become an entrepreneur, offering my creations online for more than 12 years now. I started with just a few designs, and today I have been able to develop a wide variety of styles to satisfy many tastes. This loan will allow me to create new designs in line with current trends."
