I was raised in Northern Virginia, the middle of three boys. The majority of our childhood was spent playing sports and more specifically on the basketball court. This is where I would come to fall in love with the game and eventually go on to play in high school, college and ultimately overseas.
Basketball not only opened up doors for me in terms of education and cultural experiences, but it taught me about hard work, persistence, and dedication toward a specific craft. These traits have been vital throughout these early days of Favor, as I am currently maintaining a full-time job in the music industry while working nights and weekends on this business to make Favor into the health and wellness disruptor that I know it can be.
Although my playing days are over, I take pride in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I believe strongly in the idea of balance, however, which is ultimately where the idea for Favor arose. We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
"No" means that the Lending Partner is not covering any currency losses and all losses will be passed onto lenders.
