A loan helped to buy a tropicalized greenhouse to produce fresh vegetables the whole year in order to increase the income for her family.

Esmina's story

Esmina is a 43 year old Mozambican woman from Nkhame, Tete Province. She is married and she lives with her husband and their four lovely children. Esmina is a well known producer of grains like maize, common beans and soy beans in her village. She works with 37 women in her community. She is responsible to supply good quality seeds so that the group of women can produce and sell back to Esmina. Since Esmina has a good market network she easily sells the crops and pays back the money for the group. Thanks to this activity Esmina is able to support her family. Esmina heard about the greenhouse technology in the Technology Centre of Angónia, in Tete Province. She got interested in having the chance to produce vegetables all year round as well as diversifying her production and thus reaching out to another branch of clients. Since she has not enough resources to acquire a greenhouse, she is requesting a kiva loan to buy a tropicalized greenhouse to produce fresh vegetables the whole year in order to increase the income for her family.

This loan is special because:
