A loan helped purchase merchandise & build a new location.

Julian's story

Julián P. is a 39 years old gentleman who lives with his wife and three daughters in a community called Santa Fe, which is located in Los Chiles, Alajuela Province. The community is situated in a mountainous area near the northern border of the country. The main economic activities are ranching and farming, with specific emphasis on the cultivation of grains, sugar cane, and oranges.

A few years ago Don Julián started his own grocery business where he sells basic products to his neighbors from his home. Due to demand, he is forced to build a new location. He is assured that this business has achieved profitable activity that will help improve his quality of life.

Don Julián is currently requesting a loan of 665,000 CRC in order to buy merchandise that he needs for his business and the necessary materials for his new location. This will enable him to continue with his business. Don Julián says that that the service he provides is very important because there are no other grocery stores near this area. He also indicates that he has enough customers.

Don Julián is a member of the Manantial de Santa Fe Communal Credit Enterprise, one of 100 member organizations that make up EDESA in Costa Rica. This is his first loan and he hopes to grow personally and financially. He also thanks these type of organizations and other credit facilitators that help many people to excel in a dignified and honest manner.
