A loan helped to buy additional materials, such as different colors of yarns and/or warp threads, in order to make more Tais, a traditional weaving.

Celestina's story

Celestina is a modest, hardworking 48-year-old married woman. She has amazing skill and experience with East Timor traditional woven cloths called Tais, and makes a living with this weaving. Her shop, which she has been running for many years, is well located as it is easy to find, and many people come to buy her weaving every day.

Running the business has made Celestina more independent because she can be responsible for herself and also help support her family's everyday needs.

Celestina has borrowed previously, and repaid all of her loans in a timely manner. Now she is requesting a loan of $1,500 through KIF to help improve her weaving shop. She plans to use this loan to buy additional materials, such as different colors of yarn and/or warp threads. Celestina hopes to expand her business in the future and wants to thank lenders for the opportunity.
