A loan helped to gain access to cost-effective farm inputs, such as certified fertilizers.

Alice's story

Women are a marginalized lot in Kenya, but Alice (37 years old mom of 2 pictured in her house) is not lying low. She wants to fight for a brighter future. She is very hardworking and determined.

She hails from a remote village in the Kerugoya area of Kenya. She gets frequent visitors to her small farm seeking technical advice about farming. She is an experienced crop farmer who loves her job and works every hour of her day to meet the basic needs of her small family.

Alice is seeking a loan to buy fertilizers for her crop farming. She is visionary and very aggressive in her approach. She plans to be exceptional compared with other crop farmers.

Alice will use the loan she gets to buy hybrid fertilizers to use for her crop farming. She plans to sell her quality crop produce at prices high enough to recover all her incurred expenses as well as attract good profit. She is confident that she will be able to repay the loan in time because of her unique customer-relation skills.

The returns from the investment will change Alice’s life and that of her entire household because she will use the additional income to raise their living standards and pay for her children’s education. She loves farming and will faithfully repay the loan she gets.

She thanks her lenders in advance for extending their goodwill to her.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
