Elna's story

Elna M. is a 56-year-old married woman who lives in Brgy Poblacion, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental. She earns her living by buying and selling copras (dried coconut meat for coconut oil production)

Elna’s husband Juanito is a 56-year-old farmer. They have one child who already has a family. The couple is striving hard to sustain their family needs and are also preparing for their retirement.

Elna joined NWTF-Project Dungganon in 2002 in the hope that she would be able to help her husband improve the quality of life of their family. With the help of her loans from NWTF-PD she has been able to increase their family income by buying and selling copras. She now earns an average monthly income of Php 10,000 from her business activities.

Elna is a member in good standing. Her previous loan of Php 3,000 was used to fund her operations of buying and selling copras, and it had a positive impact on both the business and the family’s living conditions. She is now borrowing her 13th loan in the amount of Php 19,500. She will use the loan to buy and sell more copras. Elna is working hard to achieve her dreams and aspirations for her family, which is to provide them with a brighter future and a more comfortable life.
