A loan helped to purchase more oil and flour to sell.

Matina's story

Meet 36-year-old Matina from Liberia. She is living together with her partner and two kids aged 5 and 13 years. The children live at home while schooling.

She deals in a business selling oil and flour. For the past 20 years, she has been in this business and works from 6:00 a.m. up to 6:00 p.m. She has had no problem with her business.

Matina uses a motor bike to transport supplies to her business site. She learned how to sell from her aunty and started the business with her own savings. She requested this loan from BRAC Liberia to purchase more oil and flour to sell and increase her business. Martina likes her business because it helps to send her children to school.

In the future, she wants to continue her children's education. Matina says thanks and gives appreciation to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
