A loan helped to purchase farming inputs, such as high-nutrient fertilizers and certified seeds, to improve farm yield and make more profits.

Esther's story

Esther, a mother of four children, who was born in 1959, is a humble mother living in Kerugoya, a remote area located on a gentle plain before the ascent into the central highlands of Kenya. Her family's main income source is milk from their dairy farm. However, she is involved in other agricultural activities. Through farming, she has sent three of her children to school.

The biggest problem that farmers from her village face is the huge deficit in access to agricultural inputs, meaning that farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be.

Esther is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as seeds and fertilizer. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help Esther fill the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and improve the quality of life for her family.

Juhudi Kilimo partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers from her village like Esther now can buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Esther hopes to improve the condition of her house. Help this granny to accomplish all her dreams with just a loan.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
