A loan helped to purchase more fish to sell.

Rachel's story

Meet 31-year-old Rachel from Liberia. She is living together with her partner and two children. Both of her children are in school while living at home.

Rachel runs a business selling fish to her customers. She has been in this business for the past 10 years now and works 15 hours per day, six days a week. Her main challenge is that sales are sometimes slow.

Rachel requested this loan from BRAC to purchase more fish to sell and grow her business. She says that the extra income from this loan will help to take care of her family and educate her children. In the future she wants to build a house and continue educating her children. She sends thanks and appreciation to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
