A loan helped to pay for the ploughing of the plantation as well as to pay for workers to help on the plantation.

Mele's story

Mele is 45 years old. She is a wife of a farmer, and a mother to five children. They live in their own home. Mele together with the help of her husband, runs a business of growing crops, such as taro, sweet potatoes, cassava, green leaves and yams. They also grow kava in their backyard, where it is safer. They have been running this business for more than eight years now, and it has become the main source of income for her family. All the school fees for the children and educational requirements are funded from this business. Her husband takes care of their plantation, while Mele sells their crops at the local market. This business helps her family a lot, and she will not give up on running it. She is hoping to use her loan money to pay for the ploughing of their plantation, as well as to pay for workers to help her husband with the harvesting of their crops and all the work in the plantation. Mele's vision is to continue running her business, save money and build a bigger and better house for her family. Shown in the photo behind her appears their house which is small with only two bedrooms. Please help Mele make her vision and dreams come true.
