The communal association Suma Ampara has been with Pro Mujer for 14 loan cycles, that is to say, 7 years. As you can observe from the photo, this is a young association as many of members have small children. The businesses are varied: clothing sales, a public telephone operation, vegetable sales, a chicken business, and thread sales.
The president Elizabeth R. indicates that she joined the association when it was founded. "I had one son when I entered and now I have 2, the oldest is now 13." She has run different businesses, depending on the circumstances and how much each business brought her in earnings. Several months ago she was selling shoes, and she currently has a neighborhood store where she hopes to sell different kinds of liquor. Since the store is in her home and is open all day and into the evening, she thinks she should start offering the widest variety of merchandise possible, and so she is requesting a loan of 3,000 bolivianos.
Although she is very young Elizabeth has known how to improve her food business with skill. When asked what she likes best about ProMujer, she answers that she enjoys sharing with her fellow group members at their repayment meetings.
