A loan helped to increase the inventory of her warehouse.

Catherine's story

Catherine and her husband Frederic run FRECA General Supply Company, a cereals wholesale company. Catherine purchases raw grains from 10 cooperative businesses made up of approximately 3,500 small holder farmers. She processes the grains into cereals, which she sells as a wholesaler and retailer in Rwanda's Northern Province.

In 2018, Catherine received a loan to buy a truck that drastically reduced her transport costs. With the money from the business, she was able to grow her company from 10 to 30 employees, making FRECA one of the largest employers in her region. Catherine dutifully made her loan repayments on time or early.

Now, Catherine needs a follow-on loan of 35 million rwandan francs so that she can purchase more raw inputs from her farmer partners, process more cereals, and increase her inventory. Although Catherine is a strong entrepreneur, she still struggles with working capital. Another loan would enable her to grow her business, hire another 10 employees, and work with more small holder farmers.
