A loan helped a member to purchase livestock to raise & sell in future.

Elisa's Group's story

Elisa B., from the village of Baculud, Amulung, Cagayan, is the 58-year-old group leader of an eight-member group loan offered by ASKI. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.

A married mother of four grown children, Elisa owns and operates a business venture raising pigs for fattening and sale. She has been engaged in her business for over six years and earns approximately 3,000 PHP whenever she sells a raised animal.

In 2010, Elisa joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. She is now requesting a loan of 5000 PHP to purchase livestock to raise and sell in the future and plans to use the additional revenue generated from her enterprise to improve/expand the business.
