A loan helped to buy more red oil to sell.

Josephine's story

Josephine is 32 years old and lives in Liberia. She is a single mother with three children. All of her children are currently attending school while living at home. Josephine herself went to school until the 12th grade.

Josephine's main source of income comes from her business, mainly selling red oil. She started a few years back with the objective of growing her business. She learned the trade by herself.

Josephine has applied for a loan with BRAC Liberia. The loan will be used to buy more red oil to sell. She is hopeful her sales will improve with the increased inventory, thus bettering her finances to provide for her family.

In the future, she would like to become a big business woman and continue sending her children to school. Josephine is grateful for the financial support from BRAC and also to Kiva lenders for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
