A loan helped a member to restock clothes from Zambia.

Wise Women Group's story

Matilda is aged 39 and stays in Mhondoro Village. She is a single mother of one child. She is a popular business lady in her area and is well known for her cross-border business. Matilda started her business 10 years ago and started off selling second hand clothing which she restocked from Harare. With time, Matilda managed to grow her business and opened her flea market. Given the competition in the business Matilda decided to restock from Zambia and South Africa as a way of diversifying her business and having different stocks from others. Despite her good plans Matilda testifies that it was proving difficult for her business to survive so she had to find ways to source finance so that she will remain in the business and not lose business to her competitors due to lack of stocks as this business supports her and her family. She used her loan to restock clothes from Zambia. Matilda intends to boost the business by increasing crossings from monthly to weekly.
