A loan helped to buy empty bags, scales, nets, and drums for her cocoa-buying business.

Mary's story

Mary is 30 years old and married with five children; they live in a rural community outside Honiara, the capital of Solomon Island.

She has a cocoa-buying business where she buys wet cocoa beans from local farmers in her community, dries the wet beans, and sells them to local exporters in town to earn a living. She has been doing this for four years.

Mary has requested a loan to help her pay for empty bags, scales, nets, and drums to assist her in drying her cocoa beans.

She plans to use her profits to meet her family’s financial needs and improve her business.

She became a member of SPBD in 2015 to gain access to financial services.
