A loan helped to buy seeds, insecticides and fertilizers.

Manuel's story

Manuel is a 54 year-old man who is married to the love of his life, Dionisia. This couple has 6 children, but only the 2 youngest live with them: Edgar, who is 7, and Diego, who is 6 years old.

Thanks to his agricultural work, accompanied by his wife, he was able to get some productive land where he has been getting good harvests of corn, potatoes and peas for 30 years. He sells these products to the wholesale traders in the market in his city, who after all this time know him and know the quality of his products.

What he enjoys most is to harvest and market the merchandise, because he gets rewarded for all of his days of sacrifice. At first all of his earnings went to pay for the education of his children. However, now the profits he earns are used to cover domestic necessities and to save so that in the future he can convert his business to the production of root vegetables and peas, products that are in high demand. In addition, he will cultivate in greater quantity so that he can have a higher income, which will allow him to provide an adequate quality of life for his family.

This is his 2nd loan with MFP, and he knows that if he wants to continue to access credit he must be on time with every payment. At the same time, he is pleased to work with his communal bank because the members are demanding and always recommend that the money be spent wisely. With the money that he requests he will buy a sack of pea seeds, organic fertilizers, chemical fertilizers, and insecticides.
