Sixto is the coordinator of her group Llama D. Amor (Call of Love). Her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's clients generally (many of whom recently emigrated to the DR from Haiti). Her group is located in the Samana peninsula, a lush but rugged area with a nascent tourism industry, where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home in a simple structure with her husband and their three children.
Sixto is excited to be requesting her third loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loans and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business growing and selling name (yam), plantain, and yuca, all basic staples here in the DR. She will use the profits to invest in her home by remodeling it and purchasing a new floor as well as buying school supplies for her family. Her long term goal is to have her own corner store. She thanks you all for your support.
