A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as high-quality fertilizer that she will use to greatly improve her banana crop.

Catherine's story

Juhudi Kilimo is celebrating women such as Catherine (pictured with one of her 2 children) who reside in the Maua area of Kenya. Catherine has a strong desire to get ahead, improve her living conditions, and support her children. Catherine works hard so she can support her family. In the past few years, she has bred more than one animal and has developed her banana farm. Catherine practices banana farming, but she has not been making good profits because of poor farming inputs. She has requested a loan, which she will use to buy farm inputs such as high-quality fertilizer that she will use to greatly improve her banana crop. Modern farming requires the use of modern techniques. Using high-quality seed will assure her of a bumper banana crop and, hence, increased levels of profit.
