A loan helped to increase her farm production of maize.

Habiba's story

Habiba is an entrepreneur who lives with her husband in the Handeni district in Tanzania. She sells maize grains.

With her previous Kiva loan, Habiba expanded the amount of maize she could sell. She used the profit she earned to buy a motorcycle.

Habiba is requesting a second loan to increase her farm production of maize.

She plans to use the profit she earns to finalize the construction of her house and improve her shop.

Habiba will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering two and a half hours per week as a CAMFED Learner Guide, facilitating sessions from CAMFED’s My Better World Program with students at her local secondary school. The program is designed to help build students’ confidence and critical thinking abilities. She will also conduct home visits to learners at risk of dropping out of school and connect them with the support they need to stay in school.
