This Banc Villageois, put into place since July, 1996, is made up of a group of six women who live in the same district. They maintain a good neighborly relationship and one of solidarity. Their principal activity is commerce. They have paid back several loans with no difficulty.
Madam Fatou, 53 years old, is the representative, standing at the extreme right of the photo with her hand raised. She is married and the mother of three children; two girls and one boy that are all in school.
Madam Fatou sells fruit and her business takes place along the edge of the national highway. She restocks from wholesalers in the orchards and resells at the retail level. She has had a good experience for more than 20 years in the commerce sector.
With her loan, she plans to purchase fruit (cases of tangerines, watermelons, and melons) that she is going to resell. Her business works well because she has a good location at the roundabout of the city along the national road.
With her profits, she increases her savings within the Banc Villageois, pays the school fees of her eldest son, and manages her small needs and those of her children.
In this group: Fatou, Astou, Gnagna, Aïssata, Ngoné, Penda Dieynaba
