A loan helped to buy organic compost and improve his cacao harvest, to provide his customers with a good product that is well-priced and has a pleasant aroma.

Gabriel's story

Gabriel is 45 years old. He is considered a friendly, responsible, honest, and above all hardworking person. He started his agricultural business ten years ago, mainly planting cacao and bananas. His biggest goal is to obtain over 900 kilograms, since the most he has managed has been 700 kilograms.

He would like to use his Kiva loan to purchase organic fertilizer and to harvest the product. He aims to have quality beans with a pleasant aroma, and to please his customers with the cacao. Gabriel has other extra jobs, such as selling poultry, especially hens, and selling bananas.

He plans to buy machetes and pruning shears to use on his crops, which will help the work go smoothly.

This loan is special because:

It schedules repayment rates based on the harvest season to put less pressure on farmers' families.
