A loan helped to purchase more ingredients that will be used to prepare cooked food to sell.

Amanita's story

Meet 46-year-old Amainta from Liberia. She is living together with her partner along with 6 children. All of her children are currently attending school while living at home. Amanita never had the opportunity to attend school. She runs a business which sells cooked food to her customers around the community. She has been in this business for the past 8 years now and she works 12 hours per day, 6 days a week. She has had no problem with her business. Amanita requested this loan from BRAC to purchase more ingredients that will be used to prepare cooked food to sell and increase her business. She says that the extra income from this loan will help improve their standard of living. In the future she wants to continue sending her children to school and build a house. She says thanks and gives appreciation to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
