The Madre Communal Bank is one of the first banks. When they first started they gave themselves the name of the River Pirai. They had problems making their payments, and the bank later expelled the members that did not pay. Then they established themselves with the name La Madre.
Dora is a founding member who has stayed, and she is the president. She is a very active leader in the bank. She supports the other members in a coordinated way. She sells food in her house. Previously her house was modest, but now with the loans given by the institution it is greatly improved. Her husband is a driver, and her three children go to school. This family is very grateful to the institution because they knew how to make the most of the loan. They also improved the entire family’s living conditions.
Lidia is a single mother who lives with her grandchildren and children. Her main activity is a well stocked neighborhood store. It is very well known by all of the members who are consumers. It has groceries and vegetables. In the same way, she did well because she knew how to make the most of the loan.
Martha is a modest woman from the interior of the country. She has five children. Her main activity is making “masitas” (small pastries), empanadas, and grilled meats. She sells them herself with help from her children. She also excelled with the loan from the institution.
The requested loan is to increase working capital. In some cases it is to buy merchandise and supplies.
All of the members are very grateful to Emprender and Kiva for the confidence given to him in granting the loan.
