Ruth's story

I'm a single mother of five children, two still live at home, I'm also a Granny Ma to seven beautiful grandbabies, two of them often help with the business. I was born and raised in Chicago IL and transplanted to Madison WI in July of 1999. I decided to relocate after my divorce, I wanted a different environment to flourish as a single mom. Being the eldest of eight children I was taught at age 10 not only the art of cooking but how to cook for a small army, I could say this is where I first realized my love for cooking and watching reactions to my art.

I've worked in various settings of customer service jobs tat include restaurant, billing, sales and protective services, I flourish in the customer service industry because I enjoy serving others. Recipes motivate me to put my own spin to a meal, be it a different seasoning or way of plating it. Ruthie's was birthed while I was on disability as a way to provide for myself and provide jobs for others. I can't wait to bring my kitchen to the streets.
