A loan helped a member to restock raw materials used to make floor polish and other cleaning materials she is selling.

Mdotwe River Group's story

Merinah is 43 years old and lives in the village of Musana. She has a business making and selling floor polish ('Cobra') and other accessories. Merinah has been in this business for seven years now and this has enabled her to provide for her children. Merinah needed funds to start up a flea market and boost her business. She is well-known now and demand for her products has increased, but it was difficult for her to raise the additional capital on her own. When Thrive Microfinance was introduced in Musana, Merinah saw this as her stepping stone. Together with three friends she decided to form a group which they named Mdotwe River and they joined Thrive. The group is now on their second loan and she used her share to restock raw materials used to make Cobra and other cleaning materials she is selling.
