A loan helped a member to restock drinks and other tuck shop groceries.

Tuckshop Green Group's story

Maggie is running a tuck shop business which she started three years ago from her personal savings. Maggie, 59 years old, resides in Lyndhurst, Goromonzi. She is a mother of five children, all of whom are independent. Her husband is a soldier.

She restocks twice a month from Harare. Different people can be seen getting into her tuck shop, buying day-to-day goods for use and consumption, and she has become so popular in her neighborhood to the extent of being called the Lyndhurst Mahomed Mussa (named after a famous wholesale shop in Harare) by some of her loyal customers.

Her good communications and customer care skills have created a good market share for her in a fiercely populated, developing area. It is in that competitive market that she needed additional support, as working capital has been much of a major constraint.

To curb her current shortages in working capital, she approached Thrive applying for a loan. On her previous loan Maggie managed to improve her business and also used some of her profits to restock a lot of groceries. Maggie used her share of the loan to restock drinks and other tuck shop groceries in order for her to meet the demand for the goods.
