A loan helped to buy seeds and fertilizers for her garden.

Edina's story

Edina is a 34 year old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and children in the Kwekwe district in Zimbabwe. She has a garden and farms vegetables and tomatoes.

With her first Kiva loan, Edina bought clothes to increase her stock. She used the profit she earned to grow her business by introducing more fashionable wear and to pay school fees for her children. Edina is now requesting a second loan to diversify her business by expanding her garden project. She plans to use the profit she earns to improve her standard of living and grow her business.

Edina will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering 2.5 hours weekly as a Camfed Learner Guide, facilitating classes from Camfed’s ‘My Better World’ program with students at her local secondary school to help build children’s self-esteem and motivate them to remain in school.

This loan is special because:

It is a 0% interest loan for young women with new businesses.
