Nam, 32, is a Thai ethnic woman. In the picture, she stands first from the right. She is married and has two children, aged 15 and 9. She lives with her spouse and her children in a Thai traditional stilt house.
Because of a difficult situation, she has been a farmer since she was a child and has tried so hard to provide for her family. She and her husband have worked hard in the fields with a lot of different jobs, such as growing rice, coffee, and raising fish.
This is the seventh time that Nam has taken out a loan from the Anh Chi Em program. She will use this loan to buy fertiliser for coffee trees. She hopes this investment will be successful and that she will increase the productivity of her coffee trees.
She plans to use her profits to re-invest in fish to expand her farming and cover her children's tuition. She wants her family's income to increase in a stable way through agricultural production and her children to be given the best education.
