A loan helped to be able to pay for the harvest and to buy fertilizer for his farm.

Paulo's story

Paulo lives with his family in the village of Los Laureles, a community in the Santa Barbara area. He is a farmer. Specifically, he has grown coffee for 17 years. Currently he has 12 manzanas of his own land [in Honduras, a manzana is approximately 1.72 acres], 7 of which he has planted with coffee.

He needs the money in order to be able to pay for the harvest and to buy fertilizer for his farm.

Paulo’s dream is to be able to take maximum advantage of the harvest, and thus be able to generate more income for his family.

This loan is special because:

It has a below-market interest rate and is repaid at harvest, when farmers can more easily repay.
