A loan helped hire others to help in weaving traditional tapa mats for customer orders.

Fusi's story

Fusi is 42 years old, married with one child which is attending school. Fusi has been running her business of weaving for many years now, because this is her seventh loan cycle. There are five people living in her home.

Fusi requested for a loan of 2500 TOP from SPBD to help her hire people to finish her tapa mats for her customers and also to buy more pandanus for her weaving. She is running her business in order to help her family for living.

She has a contract with some customers from New Zealand to buy their mats. In her business, Fusi is encouraging them to improve their styles of weaving and speed in order to earn more income.

She has a vision for the future to build a new house for her family, because they are currently living in her parent's house.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
