Marita's story

Born and raised in the Island of Puerto Rico, my partner Tichín and I, decided to venture ourselves in the scrumptious world of ice cream making. Although neither my husband nor I have formal education in cooking, we consider ourselves innate chefs, who delight our friends and guests with innovative cooking creations, especially desserts. Both being creative spirits sharing the sense of adventure and self-betterment we decided to take it on. I having professional experience in the film industry and Tichín who has devoted his professional life to the design and conceptualization of ideas, believed that it was enough to get us started. At first, we thought of having a traditional ice cream store in town. However we decided to become part of the food-truck movement. With this in mind, the local ice cream shop dream became an ice-cream food truck reality in 2015.
As many things in life, the ice-cream food truck experience has been a challenge in many fronts. First off, my husband and I wanted to give the community a one of a kind experience. Creating new recipes that they could only find in our ice cream truck. To this we added the delight of sharing this experience with our five year old son, Gustavo. This has given us the opportunity to spend more time with him and teach him from an early age the power of dreams and determination. While I single-handed create dozens of gallons of ice-cream every time we participate on a food truck fest. Every day is an opportunity to create great things. Tichín and I found our calling. The Cool Hope Food Truck prove to be a true success and now we are ready to open our first front store and share our dream with the Community.
