A loan helped to buy two tropicalized greenhouses to use as a nursery as well as a processing system for hybrid seed production, in order to sell high quality crops to increase the income for her family.

Alzira's story

Alzira is a 43-year-old woman born in Inhambane. Alzira is married and lives with her husband and their three children in Maputo, capital city of Mozambique.

Both Alzira and her husband, are truly passionate about agriculture. This is why they decided about 10 years ago to invest in this activity in order to provide food for their children as well as increase their income.

Although she is passionate about agriculture, Alzira has been facing some challenges to succeed in her activity as there is no nursery in Mozambique producing high quality seedlings. This increases her production costs as she has to travel to South Africa to acquire better seeds.

Thus, in order to overcome all these challenges, Alzira's dream is to build a high standard seedling nursery to produce quality seedlings. This includes hybrid seeds to improve the quality of her crops and sell more competitive products in the local market.

To fulfil her dream, Alzira is requesting a loan to buy two tropicalized greenhouses to be used as a nursery as well as a processing system for hybrid seed production. In the future, Alzira hopes to improve the well-being for her family and also become a pioneer woman in seedling production in the country.
