A loan helped to buy seed and fertilizer so that she can improve her crop farming.

Orpha's story

Hello Kiva community. Get to know Orpha, a hard-working woman who acquired her knowledge and skills in farming from her parents. Her parents taught her crop production and animal husbandry. She is now married and has a family of her own.

Orpha has known that farming would give her the independence and job security she has always hoped for. Currently, she is dependent on dairy farming, but she still wants to utilize her skills in growing crops. Her initial idea was to use the income that she received from selling milk to buy seed and fertilizer for a horticultural enterprise. However, she has experienced various setbacks that have consumed all her savings, leaving her with little money to invest.

Orpha is applying for this loan to buy seed and fertilizer so that she can improve her crop farming to supplement her milk business.

She feels happy and relieved to have the support of the Kiva community.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
