A loan helped a member to pay for organic fertilizer and organic pesticide for her rice farming.

Chida Group's story

Chida, 35 years of age, is a married mother of three children who resides in the Prey Veng province of Cambodia. All of her children attend school. Since 1993, Chida has been cultivating rice to generate income to support the family’s living expenses. Meanwhile her husband is a worker to add the family income. She and her husband are able to earn around $4.50 USD per day.

Chida appears first on the right of this group of two members asking for a loan. She is going to use her share of the loan to pay for organic fertilizer and organic pesticide for her rice farming. She thinks these purchases will help her to boost her rice output as well as increase her family profits. With the profits from this season’s harvesting, she wants to expand her farm, build a new house, and support her children’s studies.
