A loan helped a member to gain access to cost efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Nord's Group's story

Pictured above is Nord, often described as an extremely experienced farmer. He is 58 years old and has 5 children. As a group leader, he is representing his group of 6 farmers in Kilolo South District, Tanzania.

Nord is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund again as this means that he is able to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds, which is why he decided to join in the first place. Nord says that he is happy to have made that decision because, since he first joined in 2014, he has learnt a lot from farming trainings, which has improved his day-to-day life significantly. Nord will use the profits from this season to buy a goat.

The group will use this loan to purchase seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 4 acres. Given that some members of the group will also be purchasing a solar light with this loan, the group will also receive a total of 3 solar lights.

In this group: Nord, Letus, James, Neto, Malichelina, Titus

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
